Paul F. Hyder, O.D.
Dr. Paul F. Hyder, O.D. earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Clark University in Worcester, MA. He majored in biology and minored in physics and music. Paul received a doctorate in Optometry from the New England College of Optometry in Boston, MA with honors in clinic.
Dr. Hyder grew up in Connecticut and has worked in CT for many years. Prior to working in Connecticut, he worked in Albany, NY for a large tri-state optical chain. He produced and edited the doctors' newsletter which was distributed to 26 offices. He also worked in the greater Boston area for many years.
Dr. Hyder offers comprehensive eye exams and optometric services and has been trained in Advanced Optometric Care. He has extensive experience in filling all contact lens modalities, including the latest technology in disposable soft, astigmatic, bifocal, gas permeable, and keratoconic and aspheric contact lenses for irregular corneas. He also has a strong background in ocular disease, with interests in retinal disorders and dry eyes. He has interest in managing and co-managing refractive surgery candidates and had PRK performed on himself in 1997. Other interests include ocular photography and visual characteristics of birds of prey.
Dr. Hyder's personal interests include golf, music and biking. He is the co-founder of the Hyder Classic Charity Golf Tournament which benefits the Shriners Hospitals for Children. His wife, Patricia, is a registered nurse at the Backus Hospital. They have two daughters, Lauren and Nicole.
