Dr. Michael S. Cooper completed his Bachelors of Science in Biology/History from The University of Michigan, Ann Arbor in 2002, graduating with History honors. While studying at Michigan, Dr. Cooper was involved with several geriatric research projects including Age-Related Macular Degeneration.  He later became instrumental in shaping one of the first generation electronic computer records programs for Ophthalmology.  After his college education, he went on to pursue the Doctorate of Optometry degree at New England College of Optometry.  He served at the Veteran's Administration Hospital in White River Junction, Vermont and Lahey Clinic, Peabody, Massachusetts for his final year of study.  While training within these diverse population settings, Dr. Cooper began to shape his clinical niche in dry eye, allergy, and glaucoma management.  He graduated in June 2006.

After spending the past four years practicing in a large Ophthalmology practice setting in Massachusetts, Dr. Cooper has moved with his wife, Janice, to Connecticut and joined the Windham Eye Group. He performs routine vision care for glasses/contact lenses, along with managing patients with glaucoma, diabetes, age-related macular degeneration, and cataracts.  He specializes in treating patients with dry eyes and allergies, as well as hard-to-fit contact lenses.  Dr. Cooper participates as a clinical investigator in a national, multi-site research study regarding the treatment of dry eyes and allergy.

In 2009, Dr. Cooper was named one of America's Top Optometrists by Consumer Research of America. Dr. Cooper is a member of the American Optometric Association, Connecticut Association of Optometry, Ocular Surface Society of Optometry, Lions Club, and acts as a non-paid consultant for Epocrates medical prescription software.  In his spare time, he treasures spending time with his wife, mountain biking, traveling, and reading Greek classical works.
